Jon Hamm Says He'd Be Open To Playing Batman

Iron-jawed and broad shouldered all-American male Jon Hamm is not opposed to donning the cape and cowl of DC's greatest detective, Batman.

However, while there has been speculation that Hamm would be taking on the role for years, he says there has never been a conversation that would make this come into fruition. Ben Affleck has been the incumbent in the dual role of Bruce Wayne and Batman since Dawn Of Justice, but his future appears to be up in the air as Matt Reeves moves forward with his own vision of the caped crusader that may or may not include the current actor.

Affleck was previously attached to direct The Batman, though he ended up walking back his obligations of starring and directing to only potentially starring, with reports surfacing that the film will focus on a younger version of the character and wouldn't necessarily require Affleck to reprise the role.

Actor Jon Hamm, who played ad man Draper on the AMC period drama Mad Men, says he's a comics fan, and might be interested in playing Batman in the movies.

Hamm explained, "It depends on the script, what the story is". While Gosling was a bit more cagey with his response, Hamm's was a little more enthusiastic.

Still, while he's never been offered a comic book role, the actor isn't against the possibility. And I've sat in the rooms with all these guys.

'And I'm pretty knowledgeable about a lot of them'.

"I am a huge comic book fan, always have been", Hamm said, adding that he loves Black Panther and the FX series Legion.

The Tag star then stated that he'd "probably fit the suit" - he and Affleck share a similar physical build and are roughly the same height, with Affleck standing only two inches taller than Hamm - but admitted that he would "have to work out a lot", which he isn't exactly thrilled about. Never been offered anything. I think the Internet wants what it wants. And I like the genre, and I like when they're done well... I think the internet wants what it wants. "But I mean - you know, a lot of people have to sign off on that obviously - not just the internet". "I have to - I'd have to work out a lot, which I don't love".
