Missy Elliott performs with her "funky white sister" on "Ellen"

Missy Elliott Surprising Her 'Funky White Sister' on 'Ellen' Is Exactly What You Need to See Today

But soon after taking the stage, Missy Elliott strolled out to join her. Halsey, clearly stunned, quickly shakes off the surprise, throws her arm around Elliott and keeps on working it.

The video also landed Halsey on Ellen this Thursday, where she explained that she's been performing the song for over 13 years. Halsey said she's been singing the song for 15 years, and calling herself Elliott's "funky white sister" for the same amount of time.

Missy later posted a video (which Funky White Sister Halsey initially thought was a picture, just like every auntie) of the two new BFFs backstage.

"It became my go-to song, everyone wants to hear it!" she revealed. During the interview, she said of one day meeting Elliott, "I see it in my future". "The song had come out in 2002 and it was really popular", she told Ellen DeGeneres. The intricate performance took place at a park and she wasn't even provided an elevated stage to walk on. "So when I listen, I'm like, she knows all the words, but the sound effects-she made the elephant noise, all of that".

"First I want to thank Ellen for just being unbelievable she will always be blessed because of her HUGE Heart!,' Missy said on Instagram following the show. I thought it was the most incredible thing".

Later, Halsey got a gift from the Ellen show: a rhinestone-encrusted jacket that read "Missy's funky white sister" on the back.
