Mychal Kendricks signs with Seahawks

Mike Davis is dropped by Philadelphia linebacker Mychal Kendricks after a short gain in the 2nd half. The Philadelphia Eagles played the Seattle Seahawks Sunday December 3,2017 at Century Link Field in Seattle. 204424

Linebacker Mychal Kendricks, who pleaded guilty to insider trading charges last week, is signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

A person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Thursday that Kendricks' agreement is expected to be finalized in time for him to join the Seahawks for their Week 2 Game at Chicago on Monday night.

Kendricks reportedly made almost $1.2 million by making stock trades ahead of acquisition announcements. He could have been looking at a 25-year jail time, but he's likely to get a much shorter one thanks to his decision to admit guilt.

Kendricks signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns in June after winning a Super Bowl title last season with the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Kendricks visited with Seattle on Thursday.

Kendricks was released in May by the Eagles, but signed with Browns during the offseason.

Mychal Kendricks could face 8-12 months in prison when his sentencing comes this December.

A week after the news broke, Kendricks pleaded guilty to the charges.

Prosecutors said Kendricks netted close to $1.2m in profits off the trading during his two-year arrangement with a former Goldman Sachs analyst. The Seahawks have yet to confirm the Kendricks signing and this story is continuing to develop.
