Taiwanese authorities arrest Cody Wilson, intend to deport him

Cody Wilson, founder of the Austin-based, 3D-printed gun design firm Defense Distributed, has been arrested in Taiwan.

The Taiwanese news agency said the island's immigration department would make arrangements for Wilson to return to the U.S.as soon as possible.

On August 22, police in Austin, Texas were told about the alleged incident by an adult "counselor".

Taiwan does not have an extradition treaty with the USA, but local police have nevertheless cooperated with authorities in the U.S.to arrest Wilson, and - according to translated reports from Taiwanese media - potentially deport him to his home country. Troy Officer said Wednesday that his department is working with national and global law enforcement agencies to find Wilson, whose last known location was Taiwan's capital, Taipei.

After news broke yesterday that Wilson, 30, is wanted for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in Austin, Texas, the National Immigration Agency (NIA) received notification from the USA that his passport would be canceled, reported Liberty Times.

The real estate company that he signed a contract with earlier this month contacted the authorities after watching news about his sexual assault case on TV, police said. Austin police Detective Shaun Donovan wrote in a request for a warrant to arrest Wilson on a sexual assault charge.

He said before Wilson flew there, a friend of the 16-year-old girl informed Wilson that police were investigating the accusation that he had sex with the youth.

Wilson sexually assaulted her and then "retrieved five $100.00 bills from a bag on the floor" and gave her the money, the alleged victim told police, according to the affidavit.

Wilson's Texas driver's license picture also matched the "Sanjuro" profile image on SugarDaddyMeet.com, police said. He paid her $500 for sex.

Wilson runs Defense Distributed, a company that deals in software and hardware to facilitate home weapon printing and machining.

The files could previously be downloaded for nothing, but a federal judge issued a nationwide injunction last month that blocked the posting of the blueprints online. Investigators said they were able to corroborate the victim's story by reviewing phone records and surveillance video from the locations they were together.
