Tonight’s Nintendo Direct has been postponed following devastating natural disaster

Nintendo

Nintendo was scheduled to host a Nintendo Direct today, but the broadcast had to be delayed because of an natural disaster.

However, Nintendo has made a decision to postpone the livestream after a devastating natural disaster in Hokkaido, Japan, left several people dead and many more injured.

Nintendo did not set a replacement date, but did promise a new date would be given in the near future. Nintendo has apologised for delaying the Direct but I'm sure you can understand why they chose to do it.

Nintendo uses Direct events to connect with users and inform them of company performance, new products, and ongoing issues.

Nintendo Switch fans were going to find out about new games heading to the hit hybrid console during an upcoming Nintendo Direct.

This was to be Nintendo's third Direct in less than a month. Then, the quake hit Japan's northernmost island, leaving at least nine dead and hundreds injured, with mudslides ravaging the countryside and small towns along the way.

Due to this bad tragedy, Nintendo made a decision to delay this week's Direct. According to official reports from CNN, there are at least seven dead from the disaster, and 32 people now missing because of it. With Nintendo having already hosted two Nintendo Directs that focused mainly on indie games, it'would be interesting to see if there is really more on the way.

Super Mario Party, launching 5 October. The game will also feature a large world "decorated like a miniature diorama", as previously reported.

Nintendo Switch Online, the console's upcoming subscription service.

Pokemon: Let's Go, launching 17 November.
