Video shows Harvey Weinstein appearing to fondle businesswoman before alleged rape

A new video of a business meeting between Harvey Weinstein and a woman who has accused him of raping her shows him hitting on the woman and appearing to touch her inappropriately - just hours before the accuser says he raped her in a hotel room.

Melissa Thompson, who has previously publicly complained of abusive behaviour by Weinstein during a 2011 business meeting in NY, gave a tape of the encounter to Sky News.

Melissa Thompson filmed the meeting with the Hollywood producer when she went to the Weinstein Company offices in NY in 2011. After the door closed, he approached Thompson, who tried to shake his hand.

In the roughly 8-minute video shown on the Sky News website, Weinstein can be seen maneuvering Thompson's attempted handshake into a hug, during which he says, "that's nice".

He then caresses her shoulder as they sit side-by-side in front of her laptop. "Am I allowed to flirt with you?" he asks near the beginning of the meeting. The two people can only be seen from the waist up so this alleged action cannot be seen. Thompson told Sky she was thinking of the initial encounter with Weinstein.

As the meeting continues, Weinstein runs his hand up her arm, and after telling her that he's going to use her platform, runs his hand up her leg.

On the video he says: "Let me have a little part of you. It's okay. Would you like to do it some more?"

"A little bit, mm-hmm", an uncomfortable-looking Thompson responded.

When she arrived to the hotel, Thompson said, Weinstein lead her away from the lobby and into the hotel; she believed he was taking her to a conference room.

"Every time that he toed the line of being inappropriate enough where I may have said something, he could sense it and he pulled back and he changed the dynamic again", Thompson said. "And that I need this deal from him and he has the power to give it to me". She was there to pitch a new start-up video-analytic service. In it the video, the professional meeting takes on an air of predation nearly immediately, as Weinstein touches Thompson inappropriately and asks her inappropriate questions. "His eyes became dark", she said.

The video hasn't been posted on YouTube yet but you can view it here at Sky News.

Once in the room, he raped her. Thompson says, cordially shoving Weinstein. "I thought I could handle it, I had never met anyone that I couldn't handle... until Harvey Weinstein". "We don't have to live with things that are illegal and abusive".

"Several respected journalists and trustworthy individuals have seen the entire video".

Brafman said the video shows "casual, if not awkward, flirting from both parties".

"Anything short of that is meant to make Mr. Weinstein appear inappropriate and even exploitative", lawyer Ben Brafman said. "It was produced by Ms Thompson to bolster her position in a civil lawsuit seeking money. This is a further attempt to publicly disgrace Mr. Weinstein for financial gain, and we will not stand for it".

He is out on bail and has pleaded not guilty in NY to six counts allegedly committed against three women in 2004, 2006 and 2013. "But I hate feeling like a booty call", according to a defense motion to dismiss the case.

"Defendant moves to dismiss the indictment or counts thereof on various grounds of alleged defect or deficiency in the presentation of the matter to the grand jury", said Cyrus Vance Jr's office on Wednesday in a response to a sprawling and politically charged August 3 motion to dismiss from Weinstein's primary attorney Ben Brafman.
