Boxer Deontay Wilder Breaks Nacion ESPN Mascot’s Jaw During Jokey Show Segment

Deontay Wilder

The clip shows his appearance on "Nacion ESPN", in which he decks the sombrero-wearing, mustachioed mascot so hard, he topples to the ground, seemingly writhing in pain.

The Bronze Bomber didn't hold back, flooring the mascot with a brutal right hand that reportedly left the man inside the costume with a broken jaw.

Now Wilder has taken to social media to give his side of the story.

He posted a picture of the punch and the message read: "Yea, Anything headlining I didn't know a "Human Being" was in there is just straight "Click Baiting"".

"I sincerely apologise to the courageous man that was injured (if this is true)", he wrote on his Instagram page.

'If this is true Nacion ESPN I personally would like to invite him to my Dec.1 fight.

Now on a promotional tour ahead of his December bout with United Kingdom fighter Tyson Fury, Wilder was introduced to the sombrero-wearing mascot on Spanish-language sports show Nación ESPN. Word Is Bond -CHAMP #BombZquad #PeoplesChamp'.

In the footage, Spanish-speaking hosts can be heard telling Wilder to have a swing at the mascot, who is dancing and playing along.

'I'm gonna beat you, you little gypsy king.

'I said I was gonna knock you out.

Nearly certainly yes. Well worth a watch, I reckon, especially if the pair of them throw away any semblance of technique and just start windmilling at each other like two 16-year-olds in the playground. When I knock your body on the canvas, which foot do you want me to step over you with?

Since the incident, Wilder has rejected multiple news sources that claimed he said he didn't know someone was inside the suit.

Wilder and Fury are set to go head-to-head in Los Angeles with the American's WBC heavyweight crown on the line. 'I couldn't ask for anything better or any more preparation than we already have.
