Chiefs, Patriots missing key defensive players for matchup

Laurent Duvernay Tardif was injured during the fourth quarter of the Chiefs victory over the Jaguars

However, the Patriots look to get their season back on track in this upcoming game and make a statement over a Chiefs team that not only embarrassed them on their banner night last season but looks to be the team to beat in the AFC.

Patriots receiver Josh Gordon left the team's game against the Chiefs with an apparent injury late in the second quarter Sunday night, but returned on New England's first drive of the third quarter. On top of that, Roberts is 4-2 in his last six point-spread picks involving New England, meaning he's on a 12-3 run with the SNF combatants. On their way to an AFC Championship appearance in 2016, following the 2015 season, New England defeated the Chiefs 27-20 in a divisional round matchup.

Tom Brady went 24-for-35 for 340 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions.

It was only the seventh time in the team's 19 years under Bill Belichick that the Patriots allowed 40 points to be scored.

With security blanket Julian Edelman back from suspension, Tom Brady looks like himself again.

In other words, just because the Chiefs already hold a two-game lead on the Patriots this season, history suggests New England has a great shot in this game. He's thrown for 615 yards and six touchdowns the past two weeks, while rookie Sony Michel has run for 210 yards and two scores in that span.

This is the highest total of the year and it shouldn't come as a surprise.
