Google Maps now offers detailed info on EV chargers

Google Maps will now show EV charging stations

"Our newest feature brings helpful information about electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to the Map, so you can be confident that your auto will be charged and ready for your ride, wherever you're headed".

That assistance comes in the form of Google Maps which, beginning today, will show EV charging stations within the app.

If you search using terms like "ev charging", "EV charging stations", or derivatives of the two, you'll be presented with a list of stations closest to you.

"You'll also see information about the station from drivers, including photos, ratings, reviews and questions".

Speaking of businesses, any that also have charging stations will include a link to more information about each charger when you search. Searching for "EV charging" or "EV charging stations" will now bring up all the supported charging stations in a user's area, and it includes detailed information like the number of charging ports, what kind of charging ports they are and what business has the charging station in its lot.

Using the search function, drivers will be able to locate the nearest charger to them.

New features are consistently added to the app thanks to updates from Google. The US's SemaConnect, EVgo, and Blink are supported, while the UK's Chargemaster and Pod Point will be available for overseas users.

SourceLondon's network of chargers is also available in the capital. Lastly, in Australia and New Zealand, Google Maps will tell you where to find Chargefox stations.

The new feature will be available worldwide on Android and iOS at first - make sure you've got the latest app version installed on your devices.
