Keira Knightley won’t let her daughter watch Disney movies

Keira Knightley attends ELLE's 25th Annual Women In Hollywood Celebration presented by L'Oreal Paris Hearts On Fire and CALVIN KLEIN at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills

The Anna Karenina star revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that she won't let her 3-year-old daughter, Edie, watch some of the studio's most iconic films because she doesn't like the way women are portrayed.

Knightley is now making the rounds to promote Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming movie "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms". "We watch them but use them to talk about things", she explained, adding that her daughter is aware she doesn't approve of Cinderella. "I'm quite a feminist myself and hope my daughter learns her values and self worth from me rather than the influences of Disney Princesses", she told HuffPost UK.

While appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Knightley listed the Disney movies banned in her household.

"Because she waits around for a rich guy to rescue her", she said.

"Don't [wait around]. Rescue yourself".

Even the 1989 classic The Little Mermaid- which she admitted was a personal favourite- was also off-limits for the toddler. Hello! But the problem with The Little Mermaid is - I love The Little Mermaid! "The songs are great but do not give your voice up for a man!"

Keira said movies like Frozen, Moana and Finding Dory have all passed her test and are a part of Edie's collection.

English actress Keira Knightley is setting limits on her daughter's viewing habits.

"Now she wants to a be a lion, she roars very well!"

For Halloween, her little girl wants to be a witch, which Knightley humorously described as "boring" and "dull, but cute".

"It's changed. She did want to be a dentist, which I was super happy about", Knightley shared.

The Bend It Like Beckham actress is typically private about her family life but also opened up about Edie's dream profession.
