TMZ: Ariana Grande, Pete Davidson split; engagement called off

After five months together, and a shocking engagement, Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson have parted ways, multiple outlets report.

The two captivated the internet with a whirlwind romance that began in May and led to a proposal just a few weeks later in June. Grande's engagement ring costright around $100k.

The "Breathin'" songstress recently took time off from Hollywood to mourn the death of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller.

After Miller's passing Grande chose not to make any public appearances or attend the Emmy awards with Davidson, according to ET. I can't believe you aren't here anymore. Why should I spend any time on negative energy when my real life is fucking lit, ' he wrote.

She also withdrew as the musical guest for the recent season 44 premiere of Saturday Night Live, and has been candid about her emotional turmoil with fans online. She also opted out of appearing at the 2018 Emmys, with her reps issuing a statement that read, "Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend".

The Blast reports that Ari needs time to "work on herself" right now and she needs to be single to do that.

Grande recently expressed that she was going through a hard time, canceling some appearances and tweeting a lot of personal messages to fans saying that she needs a break and lamenting the negativity that's been thrown her way lately.

Still, Grande and Davidson have appeared to be quite close recently, with Davidson referencing her and their relationship in a segment on "Weekend Update" during SNL's September 29 season premiere.
