Federal Bureau of Investigation and local authorities are probing the death of a 52-year-old American woman on board a Princess Cruises ship Tuesday - and it's reportedly being investigated as a potential murder.

When the ship arrived at port in Aruba, local authorities launched an investigation. "The cause of death is not yet known at this time", Royal Princess told the newspaper in the statement. All that's known is that the cruise ship departed from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on a seven-day excursion on November 9 and is due back there on November 17, as Princess Cruises confirmed to Yahoo Lifestyle. Local police officers and forensic technicians then boarded the ship, the messages claim.

An American man has been hauled off the Royal Princess cruise ship after a woman was allegedly choked and pushed off a top deck, severing her leg and killing her, after a volatile altercation during their Caribbean getaway.

Princess Cruises is based in Santa Clarita, California. According to one person, an announcement came through the PA around 4:30 a.m. alerting security personnel to gather on deck 7 a.m.; the announcement was broadcast into passengers' cabins too.

The man, described as being muscular, reportedly strangled the woman before tossing her from the ship's 16th deck.

Passengers were not allowed to leave the ship once it docked in Aruba later that morning, the user stated.

A second source added: "We can literally see the lifeboat from our room". Angela asked. "That is what we are investigating, to find out exactly what happened".

The Royal Princess can carry up to 3,560 guests and a crew of 1,346, according to the cruise line.

"The police force of Aruba are investigating the Royal line today".

An autopsy will reportedly be done to determine the woman's cause of death, the Curaçao Chronicle reported.
