However, the former first also spoke about some heavy subjects - for example, about how she went through a miscarriage weeks after getting pregnant.

Obama is on a media blitz promoting her new book, "Becoming", which was released on Tuesday.

With her glowing smile of the cover, the interview she had with Oprah Winfrey has become a must-read for those who are interested with Mrs. Obama's book. She was a prominent backer of Barack Obama's candidacy in 2008 and has interviewed both Obamas over the past decade.

"I hope we have a lot of great candidates who get in there and treat each other respectfully", she said. Someone from Barack's administration might have said that the optics there were bad - that what the public saw didn't reflect the president's reality or ideals...

The former first lady is out with her highly anticipated memoir, "Becoming," which follows her life from childhood in the South Side of Chicago to Washington.

She said she didn't mention that episode in her book, entitled Becoming. She has West Coast appearances in the Bay Area and Los Angeles.

Though she's no longer America's first lady, Obama continues to use her voice to inspire people, and as she kicked off her Becoming book tour this week she reminded everyone how important it is to take the high road. "They're growing up in a different world than even we grew up in, more diversity, more openness".

The visits to her alma mater this month have most likely felt like "the quiet before the storm", as the media blitz surrounding the "Becoming" book tour amp up. "How dare somebody tell me that I don't belong".
