Champions League: Neymar, Mbappe injury concerns for PSG ahead of Liverpool clash

Brazil's Neymar was forced off in the first half against Cameroon

Neymar limped off after just eight minutes of Brazil's 1-0 friendly win against Cameroon on Wednesday.

In Paris, Mbappe hurt his shoulder in a nasty fall as World Cup winners France ended their year on a high note with a 1-0 win over Uruguay at the Stade de France.

A 1v1 challenge with Uruguay goalkeeper Martin Campana felled the 19-year-old Mbappe, and France coach Didier Deschamps did not have a decent prognosis.

Neymar left the field with an apparent groin injury in Brazil's friendly match with Cameroon in Milton Keynes on Tuesday.

Team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar also thinks Neymar will make a swift recovery but insists a scan is needed to confirm the exact diagnosis.

Asked if the Brazil worldwide would be available for PSG's next games, Saturday's league encounter against Toulouse and the upcoming Champions League game against Liverpool, Lasmar said: "It's important to wait approximately 24 hours more".

Neymar played down his injury, saying in an Instagram message that "it was nothing serious".

"He felt discomfort", Lasmar said.

Paris Saint-Germain are fretting over the fitness of Brazil forward Neymar and his French counterpart Kylian Mbappe ahead of their Champions League fixture against Liverpool.

Group C is finely poised heading into Matchday 5, with Liverpool, PSG and Napoli battling it out for a place in the last-16.

Brazil went on to win the match with Neymar's replacement Richarlison scoring the only goal a minute before half-time.

PSG are next in action on Saturday afternoon, when they take on 15th-placed Toulouse at home, and it is highly likely Tuchel would have considered rotation for this game regardless.
