Diego Luna Reprising ‘Rogue One’ Character In New ‘Star Wars’ TV Series

Star Wars Film Rogue One to Get Prequel Series at Disney's Streaming Service; Diego Luna to Reprise Role

Disney's new video streaming service will go by the name Disney+.

Unfortunately, there were few details shared beyond that basic premise. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think of the service.

"Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me", said Luna. Beyond the obvious Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Disney animation content, there is the wealth of ABC family sitcoms, older Disneyana fare, and even PG material from 20th Century Fox. According to Variety, Marvel's parent company Disney is planning to add a number of limited series that focus on your favorite MCU characters who haven't gotten their own standalone films to its new streaming service.

Over the past few months, Disney has teased quite an impressive slate for its new streaming service which includes a handful of original movies and television series.

There will also be TV shows based on the Star Wars franchise and other Disney movies including Monsters Inc and High School Musical.

In addition to revealing the title for the streaming service, Iger also revealed that LucasFilm is now developing a live-action Star Wars series focused onRogue One character Cassian Andor.

In 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor, a confident spy, assisted Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) in her plot to steal Death Star plans.

Characters of Star Wars take part in an event held for the release of the film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in Disneyland Paris in Marne-la-Vallee, France, December 17, 2015.

StarWars.com relayed the big news this afternoon, revealing that Disney CEO Bob Iger announced a second Star Wars series specifically for Disney+.

This could be a reaction to Solo: A Star Wars Story's lackluster performance at the box office, but it's more than likely a play to ensure that Disney+ can attract as many subscribers as possible.

This won't be the first time the actor has reprised this particular role.
