Gov. Scott: Election officials trying to thwart will of Florida voters

Governors' races in the southern US states of Florida and Georgia had yet to be decided

"Rick Scott was up by 50,000+ votes on Election Day, now they "found" many votes and he is only up 15,000 votes". "Let's blame the Russians and demand an immediate apology from President Putin!"

Both Florida and Georgia were preparing for ballot recounts on Friday, as contentious races for the US Senate and state governorships descended into controversy amid Republicans' accusations of Democratic vote tampering, and counter-questions about potentially confusing ballot papers.

Scott announced his intention to have law enforcement look into Broward and Palm Beach counties at a news conference Thursday night. "I will not sit idly by while unethical liberals try to steal this election from the great people of Florida".

The tabulation of those votes will continue to narrow Scott's razor-thin lead over Nelson, Elias predicted.

Under Florida law, a 0.5 percent margin in an election automatically triggers a machine recount, while a 0.25 percent margin automatically triggers a manual recount, or recount by hand.

Previous claims of widespread voter fraud, including Trump's claim that millions of people voted illegally in the 2016, are considered false by voting experts.

Many conservative leaders are speaking out about the situation and reminding voters of Florida's history with voter fraud.

His lead narrowed as final ballots in heavily Democratic Broward and Palm Beach counties were counted Wednesday and Thursday.

Nelson attorney Marc Elias, who has been involved in a number of recounts across the country, pointed to an ongoing count of provisional ballots and ballots that may not have been properly scanned. That has changed, with the Legislature passing a clear procedure on how a recount should be conducted.

At an emergency hearing Friday, Scott's lawyers said this was a "simple" case about access to Broward ballots, not about how votes are counted or inspecting ballots.

Scott filed lawsuit against Broward County Supervisors of Election Brenda Snipes Thursday night, asking the court to order Snipes to turn over several records detailing the counting and collection of ballots. "It is literally the best of democracy". But we shouldn't discount their creativity and determination to do whatever it takes to win. She was researching the subject Thursday. They are comprised of the county Supervisor of Elections, a circuit court judge and the Chair of the County Commission.

"If this is the cause of lost votes, it is incredibly frustrating that somehow the state hasn't gotten its act together to make sure ballots are designed in a way that don't cause lost votes", he told the Sentinel.

But Abrams' campaign maintains it just wants all provisional and absentee ballots to be counted before she decides to concede.

His race, and the one for governor, appear headed for mandatory recounts, which could delay a final outcome for days or weeks.

Kemp holds about a 63,000 vote lead, with 50.3 percent of nearly 4 million votes.

Meanwhile in Georgia, Republican Brian Kemp has resigned as secretary of state after claiming victory in the gubernatorial election.

"Arizonans must have faith that their votes are counted, and we are working diligently to ensure that count proceeds in a fair, transparent, and timely manner that voters can trust", Sinema for Arizona campaign manager Andrew Piatt said in a statement.
