After the Atlanta Hawks (via a trade with Oklahoma City) bought out Carmelo Anthony's contract this summer, the 10-time All-Star signed on with the Houston Rockets in hopes of making a championship run.
In news that no one could have possibly seen coming, it appears Carmelo Anthony and the Houston Rockets might be re-evaluating their relationship after a slow start to the season for both parties.
Houston Rockets forward Carmelo Anthony (7) celebrates after a three point shot against the Brooklyn Nets during the fourth quarter at Barclays Center.
Good friend Dwyane Wade took to Twitter to speak out in support of Anthony later Sunday. The Rockets guard has been the snatching headlines today amid rumors that the team is considering waiving him, after the team as a whole has been experiencing a rough start to a season bloated with high expectations. It's unfair that there's all this speculation on just one player. "He's been great with us, as coach [Mike D'Antoni] said yesterday. I understand it, because he's obviously a Hall of Famer, but it's unfair".
He added that he "would expect" Anthony to play when he's healthy.
According to The Athletic, which cited league sources, the Rockets have engaged in talks with the star forward regarding his role with the team and "are seriously weighing his roster situation". "Yeah, that's. I'm sure you can address that with Daryl". "I'm trying to win a game".
