Strategy-Shooter Void Bastards Revealed for Xbox One

X018 reveals continue rolling through, and tha latest should whet the appetites of fans of BioShock as well as System Shock 2. The studio, headed by ex-Irrational/Looking Glass developer Jon Chey, has been mostly quiet the last few years.

Inspired by both of these seminal shooters, Void Bastards is split between plotting a course through the Sargasso Nebula and blasting dudes.

Players will have to make decisions on "where to go, what to do and who to fight", while face-to-face with enemies. On each ship, you'll get a blueprint-style floorplan of what you're about to face, planning out a route around the locations of enemy grunts, turrets, and terminals that you might be able to use to your advantage.

The ships are unsafe, but need to be explored in order to find supplies and the control systems. With multiple characters (or criminals) to choose from, players will be required to scheme up various plans to survive the creatures roaming the galaxy, from greedy and merciless pirates to large and very deadly space whales.

Blue Manchu says Void Bastards has a campaign lasting around 14 hours, and it sounds like it was created to be completed and replayed roguelike-style across multiple characters. When one dies, another takes its place without the loss of crafting progress.

Void Bastards will be published by Humble Bundle and is scheduled to release on PC and Xbox One in early 2019.
