Toyota Corolla sedan teased ahead of official debut

Toyota RAV4

The teaser video for the 2020 Toyota Corolla didn't reveal anything more than a vague silhouette of the vehicle, but we do see more details in the photo released today.

The front-end design is expected to be identical to the hatchback, which bodes well for the rest of the body being a far more exciting proposition than the current version. It is still a sedan but it has a sporty look. Pricing on the 2020 Toyota Corolla sedan would be quite similar to that of hatchback when it goes to sale next year. Perhaps this is Toyota's way of making the four-door stand out from the five-doors. The only mystery with the sedan's design will be the rear, which sadly has not been teased.

The Japanese automaker will show the 2020 Corolla sedan via live stream on Thursday, November 15. Later this week - on November 16, 2018 - Toyota's the new sedan will be unveiled in full. Reports suggest that it could replace the Corolla Altis in India by 2020.

It's believed that the new Corolla will debut in plug-in hybrid form, with conventional petrol and diesel variants following soon after.

Toyota has just released a first teaser image of its next generation of the Corolla, no less than the best-selling auto in automotive history.

In terms of kit, the new Corolla will come with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 - a suite of safety features that includes autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, cruise control, lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist. The headlights are taken from the hatchback variant that debuted this past summer, which leads us to believe we won't be seeing any revolutionary changes to the overall design of the vehicle.
