Virat Kohli responds to fan

A controversy erupted after a video on social media showed the Indian captain Virat Kohli said that "those who prefer English and Australian batsmen should not live in India". During the promotion of his app, Kohli suggested, perhaps in jest, that those who didn't like watching Indian batsmen ought to consider migrating.

In Kohli's newly launched app, the 30-year-old is seen responding to messages from Twitter and Instagram where he reads out one post in which he is termed an "overrated" batsman. Why are you living in our country and loving other countries?

Replying to the message, Kohli asked the cricket fan to go live somewhere else if he liked batsmen from elsewhere.

While adding that he didn't mind any sort of dislike towards him, the Indian skipper felt that one should get his priorities sorted before posting such comments.

Virat Kohli's response has not gone down well with many on social media as fans took to micro-blogging site Twitter to slam Indian skipper for his comment. The user says that it's preferable to watch Australian and English batsmen.

"I think this has to do with respecting cricketing excellence without any thoughts about geographical or political boundaries", he continued. In fact, many have found Kohli's statement hypocritical considering he once called South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs his favourite cricketer.

Virat Kohli wants senior India pace bowlers to skip the Indian Premier League in 2019 and be fresh for the World Cup according to a report in Indian Express. The BCCI's revenue will fall, and consequently the players' fees.

Last month, Kohli became the fastest batsman to reach 10,000 one-day global runs in a match against West Indies.
