Blindfolded Utah Teen Crashes Car Doing The ‘Bird Box’ Challenge

Driver who crashed while blindfolded was participating in ‘Bird Box Challenge’

"Luckily no injuries", police wrote.

Law enforcement in Colorado predicted last week that someone might attempt the "Bird Box" challenge while driving and also warned people against it.

The driver then lost control and slid into the westbound lane, striking a white passenger auto and a light pole near 675 Layton Parkway, Lyman said.

The Layton Police Police Department tweeted two photos of the crash, which it said occurred Monday. It's unclear how many people were in the SUV. Now, it has reportedly caused a auto crash.

"Bird Box" is a recently released Netflix drama featuring Sandra Bullock where a woman and her children live in an apocalyptic world that requires them to cover their eyes to avoid evil in order to escape.

Well, we might be getting into an area where films that become pop-culture phenomenons require ridiculous warnings because just like the idea of sticking your head into a bee hive or swimming with sharks, driving with a blindfold isn't the cleverest thing to do.

Lyman said police have requested the teen driver be charged with misdemeanor reckless driving.

This viral challenge mirrors the premise of the Sandra Bullock-led horror that sees survivors utilize blindfolds to navigate a post-apocalyptic hellscape, lest they spot a malevolent force that turns its victims suicidal.

The challenge prompted Netflix to issue a warning tweet on January 2.
