Kevin Hart will not host the Oscars in 2019

Kevin Hart

Hart has issued multiple apologies over the past month, including a new statement a few days ago, and the door seemed to be open again, per Academy member and past Oscars host Ellen DeGeneres, who urged him to attempt to reclaim the gig. Industry insiders now hope the awards show will stick to a revolving cast of hosts, while Page Six has learned four-time host Whoopi Goldberg has thrown her hat into the ring. The Academy Awards have had a host for every awards show since 1990, but this year marks a significant change.

Why is Kevin Hart not hosting the Oscars? "For the first time in almost three decades, the biggest night in movies plans to go without a host, individuals with knowledge of the plans told Variety".

Comedian Kevin Hart is addressing his Oscars controversy for the last time! When asked by Colbert if he knew who his replacement would be, Hart said he didn't know because he wasn't "on the email list".

"The Academy never really axed him - they wanted him to apologize - he wouldn't, and then he was the one to drop out", the source said.

Hart came off as defensive and insensitive saying repeatedly that he's "over the moment" and there's nothing he can do to make people believe he's sorry. Speaking with Variety last Friday, Hart put those rumors to rest when he unequivocally stated, "It's done". I'm a good person, I love to love, if you don't see that then it's a problem with you'. It keeps going and every headline is "you apologized"... Show producers are reportedly planning "a broadcast that will focus on starry skits and play up a high-profile year for music in film, thanks to likely nominees Lady Gaga, Dolly Parton, and Kendrick Lamar". "It's a choice that I personally made to say, 'I'm not addressing it anymore.' That's not from an angry place". "You've done it. Don't let those people win - host the Oscars".

"I was going to be good".

Hart, known for his stand-up comedy and roles in films including Ride Along, said he would not have enough time ahead of the February 24 ceremony in Los Angeles to prepare to do a professional job: "If I do something I want to give it my all".
