Police remove suspected spy from Derby training ground

Harry Wilson, Jack Clarke and Jayden Bogle have all impressed this season

Frank Lampard's men are set to face Championship leaders Leeds on Friday night, with the Rams looking to increase the gap between themselves and Nottingham Forest in seventh.

Derby County on Friday said that the man spotted acting suspicious outside of the club's training ground on Thursday, and whose presence prompted the club to contact police, is a member of staff at Leeds United.

A previous statement had confirmed that the man was not arrested once found outside the training ground.

The governing body said it would look into allegations made by Derby that a man spoken to by officers with Derbyshire police on Thursday morning is on the payroll at Leeds.

"At this time no further comment will be made".

Derbyshire Constabulary says officers were called to the club's training ground at 11.20am yesterday to reports of a man acting suspiciously on Morley Road, Derby.

They said in a statement they were "in discussion with Leeds club officials in relation to this incident".

"It is, of course, up to Derby County as to how they progress this matter but as of yet we have received no complaint or contact from the club".

Derby are now in sixth position, while Leeds are league leaders just eight points ahead.

Leeds, who thrashed Derby 4-1 in the league meeting in August, have lost their last three games in all competitions and sit two points clear of Norwich at the top of the table.
