Manchester United plotting £50 million bid for highly rated Premier League youngster

Mike Phelan and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

UNITED are reportedly set to swoop for Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon.

The England U21 global has just 18 months left on his contract and is showing no sign of penning an extension, and the Express claim Man Utd are ready to test Fulham's resolve with a big offer at the end of the season.

He swept the board at the club's awards bash, and was named Championship Player of the Year. Only against Arsenal (20) have Fulham lost more Premier League matches than they have versus Man Utd (19).

Now, Ranieri has failed to make Fulham harder to beat but has stifled their creativity and sidelined Sessegnon - making his doubts about signing a new long-term deal with a team who look set to return to the Championship understandable. Will Manchester United take advantage of that, in order to add another talented prospect to their already impressive squad?

The 18-year-old's ability and potential is unquestioned but the Fulham boss does not consider him Premier League ready at present.

Not loving the football and the bench life at Fulham.

The French midfielder scored twice against Fulham on Saturday as Manchester United picked up a 3-0 win at Craven Cottage.

Capable of playing left-back or left-wing, he would fill a problematic spot on the flank for United if he does move this summer.

And the Red Devils have hope of snatching the teenage talent from the Cottagers with his contract talks stalling.

The players seem to be thriving under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has become the new favourite to land the permanent gig at Old Trafford.

"When I was younger I had two players: Luke Shaw and Gareth Bale", Sessegnon said in 2018.

The visitors looked to get a third before half-time and Phil Jones nearly got himself on the scoresheet when he fired just over from the edge of the box after Fulham failed to clear a corner. And, with Manchester United ready to splash £50 million on the 18-year-old, Fulham could be wise and accept the money to adjust the decreased revenue as a result of the relegation.
