Verstappen 'smiling' after testing new Red Bull auto

F1 in 2019: Max Verstappen debuts deceptive Red Bull RB15

Red Bull Racing has unveiled its Honda-powered RB15, the Formula 1 auto with which it will compete in the 2019 season, in a striking "one-off livery".

The vehicle was launched in a striking dark blue and red colour scheme which the team confirmed was just for the RB15's first shakedown at Silverstone on Wednesday.

Red Bull have also gone onto clarify that this livery is only a test one and will not be used throughout the season.

The four-times champions have switched engine supplier for the new season.

Red Bull Racing unleashed its RB15 today at Silverstone in the capable hands of Max Verstappen, and while it was but a shakedown run it still left the Dutchman smiling.

The 21-year-old's hopes of a title charge will be determined by the performance and reliability of his team's new engine partner Honda. Honda supplied Red Bull junior team Toro Rosso a year ago, but in a Red Bull chassis it could have its first shot at a race victory since returning to F1 in 2015.

Verstappen, who shared the victories with Australian Daniel Ricciardo last season, has a new team-mate for 2019 in Frenchman Pierre Gasly.

Daniel Ricciardo's departure to Renault has opened the door for 23-year-old Pierre Gasly to stake his claim as a race victor of the future.

"I'm very excited to just get started with the engine", Verstappen said. "It was a very positive day so very happy about it". "At the moment, I am of course very optimistic, but also realistic and I think time will tell how we are going to perform".

"Up until Australia you can't really set goals - it's a bit blind". "In Formula One, it is so related to the package so at this stage I am quite easy going". "Now we've got eight days' of testing ahead and it's important that we maximise track time and get as much out of that process as possible prior to the first race of the new season in Melbourne".
