Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill under investigation for alleged battery

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill catches a pass during an NFL game against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday Dec. 30 2018 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City Mo

Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill is now under investigation for alleged battery.

An unidentified source familiar with the situation told The Kansas City Star that the alleged battery involved Hill and Espinal's 3-year-old son and resulted in a broken arm. Hill pleaded guilty to those charges, but those charges have since been dismissed and expunged.

According to a police report obtained by the paper, the Overland Park (Kansas) Police Department are investigating a battery incident involving a juvenile with Hill's fiancee, Crystal Espinal, listed under "others involved". Both Hill and Espinal were named, but that investigation was closed within three days of opening.

"We're in the process of gathering information and have been in contact with the league and local authorities", the Chiefs said in a statement.

Hill, 25, has a history of violence and abuse.

While he was in college in 2014, Hill was accused of punching and choking Espinal, who was pregnant with the couple's child at the time.

After being kicked off of OSU's football team the wide receiver transferred to West Alabama and was drafted in the fifth round by the Chiefs in 2016.

"Tyreek has done a nice job staying on top of himself with that", Chiefs coach Andy Reid said late last month. We have things set up for him if there are issues, but he's been phenomenal.

The two-time All-Pro had also positioned himself for a massive payday.

Hill just completed his third season with the Chiefs, during which he amassed 1,479 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns, in addition to 151 rushing yards and a touchdown, and 20 punt returns for 213 yards and another touchdown. They advanced to the conference title game before losing in overtime the Super Bowl-champion Patriots.
