Dolphins' QB situation murkier after Ryan Tannehill dealt to Titans

Colin Kaepernick

According to Ian Rappoport of NFL Network, the Dolphins are receiving a 4th round pick in 2020 and the 2019 7th round pick.

The news was announced on Twitter by Tannehill's agents at SportsTrust Advisors.

The Dolphins' desire to add a quarterback this offseason is headed in the opposite direction. Tennessee will get a sixth round pick in 2019 along with the veteran QB. The only two on the depth chart are Luke Falk, a rookie from Washington state; and Jake Rudock, a three-year veteran out of MI.

Teddy Bridgewater, an injured Miami Northwestern High graduate whom the Dolphins had courted, signed this week with the New Orleans Saints. That is, in case you're new here, not ideal.

In 2018, Tannehill started 11 games for the Dolphins, and he completed 176-of-274 passes for 1,979 yards and 17 touchdowns, with nine interceptions. He also ranks second all-time on Miami's career passer rating list, behind only Pennington (94.5) and ahead of Dan Marino (86.4).

Tannehill is expected to serve as back-up to Marcus Mariota.

@Titans have traded for and signed @ryantannehill1 to a one year contract.

His time with the Dolphins was marred by mediocrity and injuries.

So from that perspective, it's quite logical to make the move for Tannehill, especially when it doesn't cost them anything more than a fourth-round pick down the road. Now the Titans have multiple options, both for the short- and long-term.
