Man City 'set to be handed two-window transfer ban'

Manchester City face transfer ban from Fifa for flouting financial fair play rules Report

City are now under investigation by the Football Association and Premier League for possible infractions in financial fair play and youth transfers.

Pep Guardiola was thought to be planning a summer swoop for Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell, as well as a long-term replacement for Fernandinho.

However, UEFA opened a formal investigation into the Premier League champions' financial conduct earlier this month amid a number of alleged violations.

The ban apparently stems from the club's relationship with FC Nordsjaelland and Ghana's Right to Dream football factory.

Both have since left City - Davies now plays in Latvia and Oduro in the United States - but Federation Internationale de Football Association has been investigating their time with the English club.

Reports claimed that City had a secret deal with Vernon that the club will have first refusal over both prospects.

The world governing body is believed to be investigating the club with regards to the signing of eight players under the age of 18 from overseas and for potential breaches of third-party ownership rules. If FIFA ban Manchester City, they will be unable to sign any player at the end of the season and could also face further fines after another FIFA probe into an apparent breach of FFP guidelines.

"I said what I said last week".

City manager Pep Guardiola refused to be drawn on the report at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

Speaking ahead of City's FA Cup quarter-final with Swansea City on Saturday, Guardiola said there is little he can do about the situation and remains firmly focused on delivering positive results for the club.

When asked if City's squad would be strong enough to withstand a transfer ban, Guardiola responded: "Of course". I was clear on my opinion.

"I understand your job, I answered five questions last week, I can not be the right guy".

"I am concerned about what I have to do, I can not speak every day about this".

City have welcomed the UEFA investigation into allegations that the club tried to circumvent financial fair play regulations.

Chelsea along with the Spanish trio Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atletico Madrid have faced transfer bans beforehand.
