Gerry and Kate McCann have never given up hope of seeing missing Madeleine again.

A documentary on the disappearance of Madeleine McCann will be aired on Netflix from tomorrow.

"We did not see - and still do not see - how this programme will help the search for Madeleine and, particularly given there is an active police investigation, it could potentially hinder it".

The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann will go through the ordeal from the start, will delve into the suspects and also, her parents.

A source inside the production team added: "We would have welcomed the opportunity of working with the McCanns directly but they informed us they couldn't and wouldn't consider taking part while a police investigation is into their daughter's abduction is ongoing".

It tells the story of the disappearance of 3-year-old McCann, who vanished from the seaside resort of Praia de Luz in Portugal, while on holiday with her family. The parents reportedly checked on the children throughout the evening until they discovered that Madeleine was missing at about 10 p.m. Her disappearance sparked a huge investigation involving Portuguese police and Scotland Yard, which is still pursuing leads.

People across the United Kingdom grieved the disappearance of the small girl after she vanished in May 2007. Among the theories about what happened to Madeleine are that she was abducted during a burglary gone wrong, taken by child sex traffickers, or wandered off on her own and was killed.

Gamble believes we will find out what happened to Madeleine one day.

The documentary comes out on Friday 15 March, so for all those true-crime fans, it will definitely be one to mark in your diaries.

The McCanns appealed to the European Court of Human Rights regarding Amaral's claims their daughter was dead and they were responsible.

Netflix's docu-series was commissioned in 2017. And the service itself is displaying a "Season 1 coming March 15", but with no time confirmation, indicating that a NZ release will be today, possibly in line with the United Kingdom release.
