Disney confirms its Disney+ streaming service will eventually launch globally


The service will be ad-free, supported exclusively by subscription fees, and will be available on gaming consoles, smart TV's, and connected streaming devices.

Live-action Disney films including Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland (2010) will also be available day of launch. The service will launch first in the United States, with plans to release in other markets later.

Earlier this week, the company announced it will premiere a "Monsters, Inc." spin-off TV series to on the streaming service in 2020.

Disney+ will be the ultimate streaming destination for movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic.

Disney+ will host a series of Pixar shorts called Forky Asks A Question, based on the new character in Toy Story 4, available on Day 1 of the launch. The film that kicked off the MCU, "Iron Man", will also be available on the first day of service. Its animated classics, including "Aladdin" and "The Jungle Book" will be available on the service when it launches. (Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teased that one episode will explore what might have happened if Peggy Carter was the one to become a super soldier, instead of Steve Rogers.) And just yesterday, the news broke that Disney+ is also developing a Hawkeye series with Jeremy Renner, centering on his mentor relationship with fellow archer Kate Bishop.

The entire "Skywalker Sage" of Star Wars will be made available on Disney Plus, including all recent films, within a year of the service's launch.

The Mandalorian is the first-ever live-action TV series in the Star Wars universe. The show will be based on Luna's character, Cassian Andor. The Series, live-action version of Lady and the Tramp, and more.

The service also plans to bring some programming not traditionally associated with the House of Mouse to Disney Plus, some of which comes from the company's recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox.

There are also all 30 seasons of The Simpsons alongside several other family-friendly titles from Fox such as The Sound of Music, The Princess Bride and Malcolm in the Middle.
