Microsoft removes safe removal of USB drives as the default option - 04/08/2019 07:09 AMYou know, ever since the beginning of windows and USB you'd always get that message that the USB drive needs to be "safely removed" using the correct method in Windows, rather than just. In general, though, this new release was created to simply improve the Windows 10 you're already familiar with. Microsoft has pointed out that this build will be limited to the Release Preview ring for an extended amount of time in order to address bugs and software issues.

As previously reported, Microsoft will be releasing the next feature update to Windows Insiders first so that it can be tested in a wider audience.

Microsoft has begun the rollout of the Windows 10 May 2019 update that was detailed earlier this month and it is now available for Windows Insider users registered in the Release Preview ring.

If you're interested in installing the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (Build 18362.30) you can do so now. Additionally, Microsoft will aggressively internally deploy the May 2019 Update during the Release Preview period and encourage employees to do the same on their personal devices.

If you learn that the feature update is already available, you can also force the upgrade from Settings Update & Security Windows Update, and clicking the Check for Updates button. Note that Windows Insider Program is only displayed if your are signed in with an admin account.

If you are now not an Insider and would like to test the May 2019 Update before it is publicly released, you first need to join the program.

Select your Microsoft account from the list (or use a different account).

Select "Just fixes, apps, and drivers" when asked "what kind of content" you would like to receive.

As it happens every month, these updates include both security and non-security features, and because vulnerabilities in the operating system are resolved, you are recommended to install them as soon as possible.

LeBlanc also urged Windows Insiders to check their settings to ensure users are on the right ring before the company merges the Fast and Skip Ahead tracks. (Seriously, though, it's pretty painless.) For now, if you want to sample the new Windows features, though, use our tips above and dive in!
