Professional Sports Bettor Sets New 'Jeopardy!' Record for One-Day Winnings Total

James Holzhauer a 34-year-old professional sports gambler from Las Vegas won more than $110,000 on

James Holzhauer, a sports bettor originally from Naperville, Illinois, won his fourth consecutive appearance on the popular game show Tuesday night, and did so in dominating fashion.

The contestant won $110,914 after placing some huge wagers during the Daily Doubles and the Final Jeopardy.

The professional sports gambler beat the record for most money won in a single game by winning $110,914, Entertainment Tonight reported. Holzhauer surpassed Craig's 2010 record by more than $30,000. With daily doubles, Holzhauer has placed $14,600 and $25,000 bets.

James Holzhauer, a contestant on the game show Jeopardy!

Four-time consecutive victor James Holzhauer from Las Vegas won a total of $110,914 in the episode-a number he intentionally hit as a reference to his daughter's birthday on November 9, 2014 (11/09/14)-cementing his place among the greats. He ended up winning the game by more than $98,000!

After winning just four episodes with total winnings of $244,365, Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek was already making a dubious comparison.

He also offered a "Happy Birthday Booger" comment with his correct Final Jeopardy response.

Holzhauer started his run by giving Alex Trebek betting advice, telling him to bet on the Lightning to win the Stanley Cup, so he is apparently better at trivia than he is at playing odds.
