Selena Gomez hid secret messages in her newest Puma collection

‘The Dead Don’t Die’ Red-Band Trailer Delivers NSFW Zombie Kills

Selena Gomez is voicing her concern about the "terrible" effect that social media has had on her generation, and says she advocates taking breaks from the platforms.

Speaking at a press conference to promote her new film, the Jim Jarmusch directed The Dead Don't Die at the Cannes Film Festival, 26-year-old Gomez responded to a question from a journalist about "the most pressing issue facing our planet" by saying: "I would say for my generation specifically. social media has really been awful".

"It's a useful platform but it does scare me when you see young boys and girls not really aware of the news going on", she added. Back in March, the star revealed: "I'm now in the studio and it's going really good. And I think that like the better route to go where you teach people and change the world step by step instead of like breeding a war".

Her Instagram account is the third most popular, behind only Cristiano Ronaldo, the Juventus footballer, and Ariana Grande, the singer.

And the 36-year-old actress - who is married to singer Nick Jonas - wants to create a world where her future kids don't have to think about diversity.

But Selena Gomez has also been very public about her personal struggles with mental illness.

She also cancelled a concert tour in 2016 to recover from similar mental health issues.

"Social media has really been bad for my generation".

"I see these young girls, I'll meet them at meet-and-greets, and they're just devastated by bullying and not being able to have their own voice", she said. "Kindness and encouragement only for a bit!"

Gomez, who did not attend this year's Met Gala, has been working with stylist Kate Young for all of her red carpet looks. And considering all of that Jelena drama we just told you about, we wouldn't be surprised if another social media hiatus was on the horizon either... The former Disney Channel star explained that she just needed some me time.

"No one posts the bad things they're going through", said another. Is social media bad for young girls and boys? Teens who self-reported using social media "every day" or "nearly every day" reported themsleves to be 14% more depressed than those who used social media less frequently.
