USA military disputes British general's doubts over Iranian threat to US

The U.S. State Department said employees at both the U.S. embassy in Baghdad and its consulate in Erbil, capital of the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, were being pulled out immediately due to safety concerns.

"Ensuring the safety of USA government personnel and citizens is our highest priority and we are confident in the Iraqi security services' (ability) to protect us", he said.
