Season two of 'Russian Doll' announced by Netflix

More Oatmeal please

In a conversation with Recode's Kara Swisher, Netflix VP Cindy Holland teasingly asked "Russian Doll" star and co-creator Natasha Lyonne if she'd be interested in a second season.

Holland announced that Netflix had renewed the show - with Lyonne calling the follow-up season the "same show, but weirder" - lining up with comments Lyonne had made previously regarding plans for a three-season arc. "So very much yes, I would love to do [a second season]". "Nadia is a coder so it would be appropriate to have this be the time and place", said Lyonne.

According to the site: "Russian Doll may be stuck in a time loop, but this endlessly inventive series never repeats itself as it teeters on a seesaw of shifting tones - from fatally amusing to mournfully sad - that is balanced with exhilarating moxie by an astonishing Natasha Lyonne".

The show follows Nadia (Lyonne) who lives in NY and is celebrating her birthday.

The first season of the showRussian Doll stunned fans and received rave reviews, with the freaky comedy scoring 100 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, which is usually a solid gold stamp of approval. However - and this is a crucial "however" - there is the question of content when it comes to Russian Doll season 2.

Viewers will get to see the next layer of "Russian Doll". Headland revealed to The Hollywood Reporter in a January 2019 interview that she, Lyonne, and Poehler actually pitched Russian Doll to Netflix as a three-season series.

So is there more to tell in Nadia's story, or will she serve as just one piece of a larger anthology series? "And they said: 'Great, the more of that, the better".

"Want to do a Season 2, Natasha?" "Here are the resources and the support - take off'".
