Duchesses Catherine and Meghan to attend Wimbledon women's final

Serena Williams

The BFFs have known one another since 2014 and they are so close that Serena and her husband Alexis Ohanian were on the guest list for the Royal wedding in May of a year ago.

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stepped out in style this afternoon to take their seats in the Royal Box at the much-anticipated women's final at Wimbeldon. But it seems the two are, in fact, planning a day out together, even though they arrived separately, Kate presumably heading in early to meet with players.

As Kensington Palace also shared, "The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, and The Duke of Cambridge will attend the Gentlemen's Singles Final of The Championships, Wimbledon on Sunday 14th July".

Tennis fan Hasan Hasanov was photographed being told off by the Duchess of Sussex's security team for snapping a selfie of himself with the players in the background. The new mum dazzled onlookers with her brand new outfit - which consisted of a crisp white shirt and statement pleated midi skirt, teamed with an ultra-sleek long ponytail.

The duchess wore a green short-sleeved Dolce and Gabbana dress with gold buttons.

The pair were seen laughing and joking between games at the women's final.

She paired the dress with a Dolce and Gabanna Sicily bag and Asprey's woodland oak leaf earrings.

Both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle are big fans of the Wimbledon tennis tournament. Social media users have described the pattern as a "surprise delight" on Twitter.

Serena Williams and Meghan Markle have been friends for a long time, with Williams attending Meghan and Harry's wedding past year.

Serena said: "She couldn't be a better friend to me".

The duo's joint official appearance will be a rare one, coming exactly a year after they showed up to Wimbledon together.

The seven-time Wimbledon victor has won 23 grand slam titles.
