Kevin Durant Will Wear No. 7 With The Brooklyn Nets

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant has worn No. 35 throughout his National Basketball Association career, but now he is seeking a new start as he takes his talents out East with the Brooklyn Nets. "Adding a player of Kevin's caliber to our organization elevates our ability to compete with the elite teams in this league".

Before agreeing to a contract with the Nets, Irving spent two chaotic years with the Boston Celtics.

The New York Knicks were the potential favorite to land the duo of Irving and Kevin Durant.

On the Instagram account of his 35ventures business portfolio, Durant elaborated on the history of his usage of 35, saying "35 allowed me to meet people that I never would've had the chance to meet, experience things I would never have had the chance to experience, and achieve things that I never would have been able to achieve". Us basketball players, we all knew that.

The Nets completed a sign-and-trade with the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night, with Brooklyn landing Durant and a protected first-round pick in next year's draft for D'Angelo Russell, Shabazz Napier and Treveon Graham.

Durant released a statement saying he wore 35 to honor someone "very near and dear" to him.

Durant's move to Brooklyn feels like a totally new beginning. Before the N.B.A. franchise relocated to Brooklyn in 2012, they played for nearly 35 years in nearby East Rutherford at what was then called the Continental Airlines Arena.

Of course, it will be a while before fans can actually see No. 7 in action due to Durant's long recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon in the NBA Finals, which could cause him to miss all of next season.

The 30-year-old forward won back-to-back National Basketball Association titles with the Warriors in 2016-17 and 2017-18 and averaged 26.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game last season. He has career averages of 27 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 849 games.
