Man of Medan will have local and online multiplayer modes

Man of Medan Hands On PS4 Play Station 4 1

Will you be playing through the campaign with friends, or sticking to the solo story?

We've announced two multiplayer modes for The Dark Pictures Anthology - Shared Story mode and Movie Night mode. Check out the new multiplayer trailer below. Imagine how much more interesting things will get across eight titles, even if Game Director Tom Heaton downplayed the interconnectedness of each game.

Sounds interesting. Dark Pictures Anthology was announced past year as a series of standalone cinematic horror games.

Shared Story Mode allows you to play the story at the same time alongside another person by connecting online.

Play along with your friends in online and offline multiplayer modes throughout this spooky adventure.

"What was common was that people would each adopt one character and they would make the decisions for that character, so Movie Night is a reflection of that - we are giving the players the tools to play that [.] every so often in the game we'll give out awards like who's the slowest at QTEs".

There's a chance that you and your friend will "split up" and you'll wind up never seeing their character again, making this mode all the more ominous.

The game will also periodically present players with a summary of how they've played and how they might be doing.

"We have an arc in mind that plays out over eight games". We tried the game at E3, and it was a cheesy, yet fun experience.

A narrative-based game like Man of Medan and its successors seems a natural fit for this casual, controller-passing multiplayer mode, as you as the player only ever need to make choices using judgement instead of using skill, which could be a barrier to entry for many casual audiences. With the success of Until Dawn's teen slasher-fest, Supermassive Games will tackle other sub-genres to keep players on their toes. You can discover out for yourself how properly the multiplayer modes work when Man of Medan arrives August 30th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher's body clock.
