Stadia players wont lose their games if publishers abandon the platform

Google reveals more Stadia details, including answers about multiplayer and VR

Stadia Partners is a programme through which studios can try and be part of the streaming platform, with Corcoran saying that this is so Google can "tailor-make a support plan that will work for your title and fit with the rest of our portfolio". Well, a recent update to the Stadia FAQ looks to put at least some of those concerns to bed.

The updated FAQ (spotted by 9to5Google) notes that the Founder's Edition isn't tied to the Google account that made the purchase.

Thus, in the FAQ section of the service, the large multinational takes the opportunity to answer this question, stating that once a user has purchased the game, it will still have the right to enjoy it even if the publisher stops supporting the service. Also another useful feature is the ability for Stadia to maintain your game for a few minutes in case you lose connectivity to their servers. Having access to movies, music, and games purchased in digital form rely on a number of factors, and there are plenty of examples where things have gone sideways.

Game streaming services stand as an unproven model of both distribution and economics.

While Stadia has yet to be released to the public to encounter the specific instance in which a game could be pulled from its platform, it seems Google is aware of the reality that developers, studio and titles could find other homes depending on the Stadia's success.

The firm has issued some new information about the platform to allay any fears that purchases could disappear should a game publisher decides to withdraw from Stadia in the future.

Your Stadia account will support up to four Stadia controllers during local multiplayer game play. Though it uses Bluetooth Low Energy for set-up and Wi-Fi for gameplay, those controllers can also hook up over USB-C if required, too. To play a game, you need a WiFi connection.

This is probably a little disappointing for Android users who don't have the latest Pixel devices.

Despite the enticing promise of gaming everywhere and on any device, Google makes it clear that they have, in fact, constraints in keeping infrastructure close to gamers as much as possible. Any tablet that runs Chrome OS will also support Stadia. Though the company gave no definite answer, its response did open up the possibility of support arriving in the future. About VR support, however, Google says it doesn't have anything to share about that yet.
