Actor Danny Trejo saves child from overturned SUV in Los Angeles

Actor Danny Trejo helps save baby trapped in car

Newly released surveillance video shows actor Danny Trejo run toward an overturned SUV to help save a special-needs baby moments after another auto slams into the vehicle after running a red light Wednesday.

At first, Trejo tried crawling through a broken window to reach the child, but wasn't able to free him from the auto seat.

Per ABC 7 News, Trejo happened to be in the Sylmar area of Los Angeles when a two-car collision occurred, forcing him to spring into action and help out just in the nick of time.

Actor Danny Trejo said his role as a real-life hero "was awesome".

'He was starting to panic so as a distraction I started yelling we have to use our superpowers, and so I flexed, ' which inspired the boy to also flex his bicep muscle, and calm down. "I pulled the baby out the other side", said Trejo, who was helped by a woman who also witness the crash. "I kept facing him away from what was going on". The flipped vehicle that was lying on its roof still had a baby strapped in a auto seat inside. However, Trejo alleges one of the drivers ran a red light.

Trejo stayed with the boy after he was freed until his grandmother was pulled to safety by rescue workers.

"Everything good that has happened to me, has happened as a direct result from helping someone else."
He said the sedan's driver seemed distracted, and Trejo honked at her to get her attention right before the wreck.

The Los Angeles Fire Department reported three people were hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries. The official cause of the accident is still being investigated.

The veteran actor, who has appeared in the hit TV crime-drama Breaking Bad and in films including Con Air, Desperado and Heat, said that his fortunes in life have been a result of him paying things forward. Director Andrei Konchalovsky liked Trejo's work and chose to offer him a small role in the film as a boxer.

He is best loved for playing character Machete in several Robert Rodriguez movies.
