Hur sizzles to wrap up Scottish Open title

Carly Booth

Minjee Lee was forced to make a late birdie in her second round of 73 at the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open in North Berwick just to make the cut on Friday but weekend rounds of 64 and 67 have seen her fight her way into a share of 6th place in the LPGA Tour event.

She eventually completed a 66 for a 20-under aggregate of 264 for the £188,000 winners' cheque, four ahead of Jeongeon and Jutanugarn sharing second back on 16-under, with Mi Hyang alone in fourth on 15-under and defending champion Ariya Jutanugarn in fifth on 13-under.

Hur's last LPGA victory came at the 2014 LPGA Classic, having won her maiden title five years before in the Safeway Classic.

Lee6 won the U.S. Women's Open in June in SC.

"I think am still in the competition because when I won 2017, it wasn't good weather and I was six strokes behind at that time so I really have confidence right now".

"Just another pretty solid day", she said. "I had a really short third shot, left the putt really short but then rolled in the next one from 30 feet". "If only I could erase round three!" she said afterwards.

"I missed the cut at the British Open last week and changed my putter back to an old one, and you saw the results", she said.

Looking to emulate the feats of her younger sister, Moriya said, "I had another pretty solid day, I made a couple of bogeys and I am just trying to play my game and have fun out there". "So that's why I've been starting playing a lot better than before". "I'm happy overall with the week and, if I could take away today, I'd be delighted", she said.
