Mohamed Salah doubts Pep Guardiola's claim Premier League is most important

Pep Guardiola insists there is still more to come from Raheem Sterling after the winger scored a hat-trick on the opening day of the new Premier League season.

'I am pretty sure Liverpool would have liked to have won the Premier League, because it is 29 years since they last did'.

On the other hand, Mohamed Salah & Co. are yet to win any domestic title in the last seven years, losing the Community Shield to Man City last week.

"I'm sorry but it's much more important what these guys have done the whole season".

He told Sky Bet's The Big Debate: "Eventually United will stumble upon the right recruitment system, the right recruitment people, they'll get a great manager - hopefully, that's Ole - and they'll start to win again". Ahead of Jurgen Klopp's side taking on Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup, forward Mo Salah was asked about Guardiola's quote, by CNN, and the Egyptian denied the idea, saying, "Honestly, I didn't know that he [Guardiola] said that, but I think if you give him a choice to choose which one, he would choose the Champions League".

City have never won the Champions League, despite the money pumped into the club, and have only once reached the semi-finals.

"And that's not being disrespectful... they will probably win the league before Liverpool". They are expected to go head-to-head with Manchester City for the league title once again.

Liverpool and City are both expected to be battling it out at the top of the Premier League and fighting for Europe's premier competition this season. Liverpool are a terrifyingly explosive team, one capable of outplaying Barcelona over two legs, but when it comes to having the nuance and depth necessary to claim more points than Manchester City, nobody comes close.

It prompted discussion as to whether the England man can record the highest goals tally of his career to date this season, and Guardiola believes Sterling can still improve. "I can see it, you can feel it, you can smell it..."

What's worth more, winning the league or the Champions League?

Sterling spearheaded our 5-0 victory over West Ham with a fine performance at the London Stadium.
