United States to support post-Brexit Britain with free trade deal, Bolton says

Is he really planning to pull Britain off the edge

A legal challenge to prevent Boris Johnson to force through a no-deal Brexit by suspending parliament is to be heard by a judge.

Bringing down the Government would require Jeremy Corbyn to call a vote of no confidence but this would require huge cross-party co-operation to stop Mr Johnson.

Trump and New York-born Johnson have spoken frequently on the phone since the new prime minister took power and Trump wants to seal a U.S.

"Since day one we have been pressing Government for clarity as regards future border crossing procedures and we have conveyed our concerns about the future to Monsieur Puissesseau on many occasions". Lucas has also written to Labour's Emily Thornberry and Yvette Cooper, Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson, the former Conservative Cabinet minister Justine Greening, Change UK MP Anna Soubry, independent MP Heidi Allen, the SNP's Kirsty Blackman, the independent Northern Irish MP Sylvia Hermon and Plaid Cymru's Liz Saville Roberts.

He said that the President had ordered officials to "fast track" a comprehensive free trade agreement with the United Kingdom and predicted a healing of rifts between London and Washington on security issues, including on Huawei's access to the UK's 5G market.

The market may have become complacent with the Brexit process, if Boris Johnson fails to come up with a plan, a no-deal Brexit will create a greater risk for the British pound sterling and global assets.

But a clean break with the European Union would allow the UK to immediately launch negotiations on a free trade agreement with the United States.

Mr Bolton said USA trade negotiators think this is acceptable under World Trade Organisation rules.

A senior Trump administration official said Trump "wants to see a successful British exit from the EU" and that a trade deal would help Britain.

Mr Bolton also said issues like security in Iran, and fears over Huawei's involvement in the UK's 5G network could wait until after Brexit to be resolved.

To forge a new deal would require Boris Johnson's government to seal this with the European Union over the summer and begin parliamentary work after the Commons recess in September. -British free trade agreement to soften the blow of Brexit.
