Pakistan Denied Airspace To Modi For His Trip And Indians Are Regretting Asking For It In The First Place

He stated, "We regret the decision of the Government of Pakistan to deny overflight clearance for the VVIP special flight for a second time in two weeks. We hope that Pakistan will realise the folly of its actions", he said at a briefing about Modi's visit to the United States.

Following the revocation of Article 370, Pakistan's Science and Technology Minister Fawad Khan had earlier said that the country was considering closing its airspace for traffic from India.

Pakistan had closed its airspace in February after Indian jets conducted an air strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed camp in Balakot.

Modi will be travelling to Houston and NY from September 21 to 27, during which he will hold bilateral meetings with around 20 leaders on the sidelines of United Nations General Assembly.

Earlier, a USA envoy Alice Wells on Wednesday said that Trump attending "Howdy, Modi" event in Houston will be a truly-historic-tribute to the contributions of the Indian-Americans community.

It was not clear what the announcement could be but it was speculated that it could be on a trade deal between India and the USA given that commercial ties have become strained with Trump's emphasis on reducing the $30 billion trade deficit with India.
