Raiders corner (neck) ‘going to be OK’ after stretchered from field

Broncos’ 2019 season preview What might happen what will happen players to watch games to circle and more

"We wish him the best", Gruden said of AB.

Oakland Raiders cornerback Gareon Conley left the field on a stretcher on Monday against the Denver Broncos with a neck injury but "is going to be OK", according to head coach Jon Gruden.

The play happened as Conely attempted to take down Denver Broncos running back Royce Freeman. He was immobilized on a back board and left in his helmet, with the facemask removed. Conley was taken off the field on a stretcher but was able to give a thumbs up to the crowd.

Another ugly, poor performance for the Denver Broncos as they lost the season opener to the Oakland Raiders and - though it's just one game - they now sit at the bottom of the division as the only AFC West team to lose this week.

Abram was a assessed a 15-yard personal foul on the play for the helmet hit on Freeman.

Abram explained after the match that he had no idea how Conley was injured. I'm just really happy with him.

Conley, 24, appeared to suffer the injury with a little more than five minutes remaining in the third quarter. We were good in the preseason without him.

The Raiders still have a long season ahead of them, but they looked sharp in their opener, and despite a mountain of distractions brought on by their departed wide receiver, were able to leave with the win in their final Monday night game in Oakland. But a weird foot harm, combat with the National Football League above his helmet, skipped techniques, a number of fines, a run-in with typical supervisor Mike Mayock and odd social media posts finally led to the final decision to launch the game's most prolific receiver two times just before the opener.
