Suspect in custody after workplace stabbing in Tallahassee

Police said it appears he might have been targeting certain people since they weren't all in the same room.

The suspect was identified as Antwann Brown, an employee at Dyke Industries, a building materials company in an industrial park.

Police say Brown got into an argument with another employee when he clocked in at 8 a.m. Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare hospital said it received five patients, down from the earlier reported number of six.

The suspect clocked out at 8:20 a.m. - 17 minutes before police responded to a report of a stabbing.

Five people were stabbed at a workplace in Tallahassee on the morning of September 11. Dyke Industries supplies doors and hardware for homes and businesses in 15 cities throughout the U.S.


Interim Police Chief Steve Outlaw said at a news conference that co-workers fought off the knife-wielding attacker with objects in the office. His fellow employees armed themselves with what they could and held Brown at bay during the attack.

Authorities are on the scene after multiple people were reportedly stabbed near Maryland Circle in Tallahassee, Fla., Sept. 11, 2019. "You can't help but wonder on the first blush when you hear that, is this related to the anniversary?"

Dyke Industries has locations across the southeast including Tallahassee and two others in Florida. A hospital spokesperson told the station one victim is in serious condition, two are in fair condition and two are in good condition.

Dyke Industries manufactures doors and is "the largest online retailer of wood, steel and fiberglass exterior, interior, storm and patio doors and door products in the United States today", its website says.
