British paedophile who operated in Malaysia, Cambodia found dead in prison

Richard Huckle

Dubbed the country's worst pedophile by Britain's media, he was found stabbed to death in prison on Sunday after being attacked with a makeshift knife, the BBC reported.

The 33-year-old, who was serving 22 life sentences, at Full Sutton Prison in East Yorkshire, was found dead in his cell at the weekend.

Infamous paedophile Richard Huckle is dead, after having been stabbed in prison according to British news portal reports.

Huckle, a freelance photographer, was sentenced in June 2016 to a minimum of 25 years in prison after he was convicted of 71 offenses against almost two dozen children.

A stream of pictures and videos of his rapes and assaults were shared with paedophiles worldwide on the dark web.

Investigators managed to recover more than 20,000 indecent images of children from Huckle's computer, even though he refused to give them any passwords.

His catalogue of abuse stretched back to when he was 19 and on a gap year teaching in south-east Asia.

He said: "It is very rare indeed that a judge has to sentence sexual offending by one person on such a scale as this".

In online posts, Huckle bragged that it was easier to target impoverished children in Malaysia than those from wealthy Western backgrounds.

Huckle was stopped at London's Gatwick Airport en route to spend Christmas with his family in 2014 after Australian authorities tipped off the UK's National Crime Agency.

The freelance photographer from Kent awarded himself "pedopoints" for different acts of abuse against 191 children and then sold images of his crimes on the dark web.

Masquerading as a devout Christian, he abused his role as an English teacher to prey on 200 vulnerable children in Kuala Lumpar over nine years.

A Prison Service spokesman confirmed Huckle's death, while a Humberside Police spokeswoman said an investigation has been launched.
