Deion Sanders reportedly a candidate to become Florida State's new coach

The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafalo report that Deion Sanders is interested in succeeding Willie Taggart, who was sacked earlier this week.

Former head mentor Willie Taggart was sacked before this week next a four-5 begin to the period and the FSU athletic director is reportedly determined to have their following mentor in location by the stop of November.

Upon hearing the rumors that Sanders is on the alleged short list to take the head coaching spot, James took to Twitter to endorse the former cornerback.

Florida State's search for their next head coach has become quite the circus, and to no fault of the administration in Tallahassee. If nothing else, it could keep the eyes of some casual college football fans on how this unfolds. "I don't know if taking a hot coordinator would be the right move".

Even still, coaches typically get way more tie to turn a program around.

If Florida State truly seeks to unite players of the past with those of the present, perhaps a more established former star with a coaching background like Chris Weinke (2000 Heisman Trophy winner), now coaching quarterbacks at Tennessee, or Terrell Buckley (1991 Thorpe Award winner), now coaching defensive backs at Mississippi State, would make more sense. Moving from the sidelines to the broadcast booth is pretty common in the college football realm, but FSU may reportedly be looking for Deion Sanders to go the other direction. He played in 641 games as an outfielder for four teams over a 13-year span - the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants. To this day, he remains the only professional athlete to ever play in both the World Series and Super Bowl.

Sanders has never coached in college football but he does have coaching experience at a reasonably high level.

At that time, Sanders had been retired from football for three years and was working as an NFL analyst with CBS.
