Roddy White, LeBron James voice support for OSU's Chase Young

Maryland 3-star decommits opens up options after Ohio State onslaught

Overnight, yet another development surfaced as The Athletic's Bruce Feldman reported that it was Young's girlfriend, not family, for whom money was borrowed to fly out to the Rose Bowl.

According to ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit, the Buckeyes expect Young to be ruled out for four games, but hope that the suspension may be reduced given Young's cooperation and good standing as a student.

Top-ranked Ohio State confirmed Friday morning that star defensive end and rising Heisman Trophy contender Chase Young will not play in this Saturday's game against Maryland.

LeBron has attacked the NCAA several times over the years on the way they handle transfers and suspensions, so it's no surprise that he had something to say with the Chase Young situation.

Ohio State held Young out of Saturday's game against Maryland to avoid any possible future sanctions as it awaits the NCAA's resolution.

The line is larger than any Ohio State line in at least the last 22 years.

If the suspension goes beyond two games, however, Ohio State will likely attempt to gather evidence that Young's loan was legit, including correspondence with the family friend and receipts detailing the loan and its payment. The Buckeyes are 50-point favorites in that one, so they likely wouldn't miss Young.

Ohio State has won all five games in its series with Rutgers by an average score of 54.2-5.4.

The most lopsided modern era point spread for a game featuring two major conference teams, based on NJ Advance Media's research, was the 1987 Oklahoma-Kansas State game.

Assuming reports are accurate that Young will face, at worst, a two-game suspension, Ohio State may do nothing at all.
