Sublime Smith steers Australia to breezy win over Pakistan

Cricket Betting Tips and Match Prediction- Australia v Pakistan 2nd T20I

Pakistan managed to do what Sri Lanka couldn't in the previous series - removed David Warner - but they had no answers for the peerless Smith, who put on a clinic of clean hitting as Australia mopped up Pakistan's modest total of 150 for six with nine balls to spare.

A comfortable victory over Pakistan in Canberra on Tuesday evening, underpinned by Steven Smith's deft innings to smooth over the loss of early wickets in the chase, has further demonstrated how Australia are developing role clarity for their T20 team. The 25-year old cricketer hit another four through square leg on the fourth delivery of the same over.

Earlier, Pakistan, which won the toss, owed its total to a career-best 64 not out by No. 6 batsman Iftikhar Ahmed.

Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins will miss the third T20I against Pakistan on Friday in Perth. After winning 11 consecutive T20I series under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Ahmed, Pakistan had lost an away series against South Africa earlier this year and were whitewashed at home by Sri Lanka recently after which Sarfaraz was sacked from captaincy and was replaced by Babar Azam in the shortest format.

Smith was in imperious touch, though, effortlessly flicking Amir for a wristy six and putting on 58 for the third wicket with Ben McDermott, who was trapped in front by Imad Wasim for 21.

Player of the match Steve Smith said: "It was nice to be there at the end and get the boys home".

"Pakistan could have easily scored 200 or around that on this particular wicket", reckoned Shoaib.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam said: "We are disappointed. We have to gain the momentum again (but) credit goes to Iftikhar the way he played, it's a good knock". The way we kept taking wickets throughout the innings was really important because we know how damaging Pakistan can be in the powerplay or at the end so to get wickets consistently I think was the key to the day.

"We're playing a really good defensive game".

BOWLING: Starc 4-0-25-0; Richardson 4-0-51-1; Cummins 4-0-19-1; Zampa 4-0-31-0; Agar 4-0-23-2.
